August 2017

Don and I were so grateful for family that was willing to watch our kids so we could celebrate out 13th anniversary. Don and I enjoyed our weekend together. The boys worked really hard to read this summer.  We did the read today program and they earned tickets to the Bee's game along with a free pencil, happy meal, and book. I'm not 100% sure why I took a picture of Don, Patten, and Kayla and not the boys. But we all really enjoyed the game as a family.

We attended the ward camp out.  Our children enjoy camping a lot.  The boys had fun floating the river.  Kayla enjoyed playing on the banks.  We also played games in the large field and had dinner as a ward.
We went to Chuck-E-Cheese a few days before school started. While we were there we took turns going outside to view the eclipse.
Patten tripped on the sidewalk and skinned his nose.
First day of school!
Miss Kayla tripped on the sidewalk at the church chasing her brothers to pack meeting.  She fell just right and broke both bones between her wrist and elbow.  No growth plates were affected.  She was so brave and handled it really well.  She had to be sedated to set the bones. The brake has healed just fine and she is doing awesome now.  Children bones heal so much better than adults.  Her body formed a bone plate over the brake where as an adult would need a plate or screw to keep things in place. 6 weeks later it isn't healed completely but because of that plate she is able to have her cast off.
I have been promising Bryson for some time to take him rock hounding. 12 years is a long time and I wasn't confident enough in my own abilities to take him on my own.  So we joined a rock-hounding group and found some garnet and other fun things.
