The boys are loving computers and loving learning to type.  They wanted to practice typing Sunday and this is what they wrote.

The cougar came out and attacked mom. Luckily mom had a soared. Mom cut the cougar in the heart. She got a car that was red. Then she dragged it back to the car. Kid Sayings

So this last week we had a shooting in Santaquin.  The shooter was at large and later caught in Nephi.  When I told the boys Eldon responded, "The Nephites caught the bad guy?"  I told him no he was caught in the city of Nephi.  To which he went running away shouting, "Nephi caught the bad guys!"  A little confused but it made the sad day have a little humor.

While sitting at the table eating Landon was being extremely crazy.  I often ask the boys when they are really silly, "Where did you come from?" and the response is usually, "From heaven."  Answered with the attitude of that is a really dumb questions, we all know the answer.  But today it was answered by Jaron for Landon with, "From heaven. But probably the crazy side."  Really made me laugh.

Bryson has been referring to a cut on his knee as a "vanilla"  this is in comparison to a "raspberry."  We often call a little scrape just a raspberry and tell them not to worry about it.  I tried to correct him by saying, "Don't you mean a raspberry?" To which he replied, "No mom. This one is white, so it isn't a raspberry it is a vanilla."

Also on the 4th Landon decided to take several steps.  He took his first steps about two weeks ago and Saturday he made his big move by taking several steps.

Let's Call

So Bryson says to Jaron "Let's call neighbor Chandler." So they go outside and stand on the lawn and start calling for him.

Thursday, January 19, 2012

I let out this big sigh and Bryson said "You tired mommy?" I replied, "No Bryson, this lesson is just going to be really hard for mommy to teach." Bryson said, "Well I guess Daddy better just do it then."

Eldon said his first prayer today:
"Heavenly Father, Thank Food, Bless Daddy, Christ Amen"
We have been trying to get him to pray for a long while. When we try to help him he gets mad, but can't find the words to do it on his own. In nursery they made a little paper helper that has a flap for each of the 4 parts. So we lift the #1 and it has written, dear Heavenly Father, with a picture to help them. #2 has a picture of food with the words also . . . and so on. We have been practicing with this. We don't actually have to say the words and have him repeat he just can look at the pictures and do it himself. So problem solved.

Kids Truly do say the Darnedest Things. I have a little book that I keep them all written in, but thought maybe I should start sharing.

Today Bryson asked for a salad, with crutons, greated carrots, and ranch dressing. I have always thought that a little peculiar for a child to ask for a salad. Again at dinner he had three helpings of salad!

Today Bryson was pretending his legos were talking and one said to the other "Why do you look like that?" to which he replied, "That is how Heavenly Father made me."

We drove by a cemetary, the boys asked what it was. I explained it was a place we put bodies under the ground once someone dies. Then we but a stone on top to make where we put them and tell who is there.
Bryson: "We need to make a stone for Pepper." Our dog buried out back.
Mom: "That's a good idea Bryson, we will do that."
Jaron: "There sure are a lot of girls in the cemetery."
Mom: "Why do you say that?"
Jaron: "There are a lot of flowers."
I explained that all people that have passed on get flowers not just the girls, but how cute is that? He realized girls get flowers. And Bryson was so sweet, always thinking of others.

Jaron: "I'm bored!"
Mom: "Well you could color."
Jaron: "That won't take away my boredness. It will make me more bored."
And he says this ALL the time when he doesn't want to do what I suggest.

Eldon was asked what his name was by the missionaries to which he replied "FART!"

10.30.11
Bryson gazing out the window as we were driving said "Heavenly Father made this for us?" he had total amazement and gratitude in his voice. The sun was setting and it really was beautiful.

11.2.11
Jaron used "y'all" today for the first time in a normal sentence, not trying to be funny.

This entry isn't sayings, but is cute to know I think.
June.2011
Eldon says please and thank you, calls Bryson, Bryce or Bryson Scott Hughes. Eldon is very afraid of the rain. This is because of the 4th of July when it was pouring and we went out in it.
Bryson likes to wear an old stocking, he likes the way it feels. Bryson's favorite scripture is "The parable of the lost sheep."
Whenever Jaron hears the wind blow he thinks it is a tornado. His favorite scripture story is Jonah and the whale.

8.21.11
Jaron: "Mom, is today a fast Sunday or a slow Sunday?"

7.26.11
Mom: "The lasagna noodles are really fat."
Bryson: "They must have ate too much."

6.10.11
Bryson wants the chocolate to stop coming out of his bum. It is diarrhea.

Jaron and Bryson call Frosted Flakes, Frosted Snowflakes.

4.9.11
Bryson: "Dolphins are nice, so is Jesus and Heavenly Father. Heavenly Father loves everyone and wants us to come to the spirit world."

4.7.11
Jaron: "Bryson! Stop breaking my puzzle or you will get punished."
Bryson: "Man will be punished for their own sins and not for Adam's transgression."

1.2011
We were in sacrament meeting and the speaker blew his nose. In his normal outside voice Jaron says, "Does he have boogers?" Got lots of laughs.

Bryson: I amn't = I'm not

Mom: "Get your shoes on we need to go to the store."
Jaron: "Are we going to Walmart? Walmart doesn't lock so we can go later."

5.24.10
Jaron: "Why did you get married?"
Mom: "Mom and Dad loved each other and Heavenly Father said we should get married and have kids."
Jaron: "Kids?"
Mom: "Ya kids. Who are my kids?"
Jaron: "Jaron, Bryson, Eldon, and Daddy."

2.25.10
Bryson calls a tissue a bless you.

2.25.10
Bryson: "What's that?"
Jaron: "It's a butt."
It really was a BOAT, the confusion comes from Finding Nemo.

2.16.10
Bryson broke my phone. I was so upset. Jaron had the solution though.
Jaron: "Don't worry mom you can use our white one in the playroom. It still works."
The phone was a real working phone too.

Summer.2010
I was sick.
Bryson: "Here mom you can use my blanket. It's really nice and it has dogs on it."
Bryson still does this today. When someone is sick or hurt he runs to get their blanket for them, offers his, or both.

Summer.2010
Birds and the Bee's lesson.
Bryson thinks my breasts are my elbows. The dogs parts are his belly button. He has been corrected ; )
Jaron insists that Girls have two bums and boys have the pee-pees. Not corrects at this time.

Summer.2010
Jaron refused to pray. When asked why he started to cry and said, "I don't want to die!" We had taught him that if he was good he could live with Heavenly Father. He thought by praying he was being good and would go to live with Heavenly Father RIGHT NOW and he wanted to stay with mom and dad a little while longer.

Summer.2010
Bryson: "Mom I can't hear." His ears were clogged from swimming.
"I need batteries."
Referring to hearing aids like Grandpa Barlow had. Grandpa has showed him how to use hearing aids and explained he needed to change the batteries often so he could hear. Bryson remembered this.
