Landon is 7

Landon loves:
Pizza
Electronic time
Dylan Reid is his best friend
Orange is his favorite color
Snuggling

Landon is so determined to keep up with his brothers and that determination is making him push himself to learn and be the best at whatever he does.  He is really bright in all areas of life.
He also is our dare devil. He climbs, jumps, flips without hesitation.

Landon is 5

Landon has really high expectations for his birthday. He decided on miniature golf, dinner at Pizza Pie Cafe, and purchasing Kung Fu Panda to watch with the family in the evening. Of course there is cake and ice cream too.

We love our 5 year old.
Landon loves to play with friends and play Wii.
Landon expect himself to be able to do everything that brothers do.  He becomes very frustrated when he isn't as good as them or makes a mistake on his homework.
Landon always is telling me thank you for helping him and telling me he loves me.
Landon still holds fast to the color orange.
The only meal he ever really requests is pizza.
His favorite song is One Call Away by Charlie Puth

Preschool

This year I did a joy-school with a few other moms in the neighborhood. Landon looked forward to it every week. This was the graduation that I put together for it.

Haircut

Landon decided to cut Kayla's hair.  He thought it was too long on top.  She had a pigtail on top the day before and it was sticking straight up so he decided to cut that off.  He did it at an angle so the cut goes from about 1/4" to 2" long right on top of her head. When it is dried and lays flat it looks fine.

Cute Things

Today I came up to see what Kayla was doing in her room. She was changing her babies diaper. She had out the wipes and everything. Girls are so different than boys.
Don made me a CD for Valentine's because he is awesome like that. One of the song talks about Superman. The first time Landon heard it he was really excited about Superman being mentioned in a song. I just briefly told him what the song was saying and that Daddy is our Superman. Now every time he hears the song he says, "It's talking about Dad!" and then proceeds to sing at the top of his lungs. He now requests Superman in addition to Melynda's favorite song (Human). It's nice to have some variety.
Eldon's cute thing? If I only choose one it would be his dancing. He has done awesome moves, and I don't mean that sarcastically. When asked a question he sometimes will answer me with a side step and jazz hands.
Bryson is the most tender hearted of the boys towards me. He is always trying hard to help me with cooking, deep cleaning, or just by being empathetic when I talk.
I think it is really cute when a brother tells a story about something that made them feel sad and he responds, "I know just how you feel," he then continues to tell how he can relate to them. He is growing up too much. He can carry on adult conversations and while that is awesome it makes me a little sad.
Don is the cutest of them all. He always kisses me before he leaves in the morning, if it wakes me I even get an I love you. It's the little things that make life great.

Landon Is 4

That's right Landon is 4 years old.  This little boy has helped me develop more patience than I ever thought that I would have.  He is very stubborn and demands to be independent.  But that is part of my job as a mother, to help them grow up and be able to be their own person.  Hoping that he is able to learn balance between independence and allowing others to help when he needs it as he grows into his own man. He gets frustrated very easily.
Just an example would be the buttoning his pants issue.  There are a few pair of pants that the button is just too difficult for him to do on his own.  He avoids those pants at all costs.  When we went camping I happened to pack one of the hard to button pants.  He insists on buttoning it himself, which ends in him just laying down and crying because he can't, or me buttoning it and him still lays down and crying because I helped him. Oh the struggles.

Landon likes to sing songs.  His most awesome performances this year have been to the songs "Human" by Christina Perri, "Phantom of the Opera", "All of Me" by John Legend.

Landon is quick to give hugs and kisses when I ask.  When I tell him I love him he responds with "I love you too" or "I know".  Both excellent responses.

Landon knows most of  his letters, we still struggle with pbd and ZN  they are kind of confusing.  He is still working on writing his whole first name independently.  He can count to 29 like a breeze.
He enjoys looking/"reading" books and playing the Wii.
Landon has been working on learning to ride a bike with training wheels but again, the independent/frustration issue often develops.
Food wise Landon is hit and miss, but he always loves his fruit.  Honestly I could not tell you his favorite meal, he is kind of picky and often won't eat the same dishes consistently. Pizza and bread-stick is probably the one that he eats every time. He also loves most vegetables.  Breakfasts are also a hit with him.

This little boy is so much fun to have around and we just love him t pieces.

His birthday party was a great hit.  Complete with watermelon, and Olaf cake, and water games.  Don and I filled 500 water balloons the night before the party.  Those were lots of fun to have at the party for batting and pitching practice.  We also had a water slide, that was sliding practice.  We had such great support from family and friends.  He was really worried that he wouldn't have enough "friends" to his party.  He kept asking who would be there, if there would be as many as Jaron's party.  So I really appreciate all those that supported him and made him feel special.

Kid Sayings

So this last week we had a shooting in Santaquin.  The shooter was at large and later caught in Nephi.  When I told the boys Eldon responded, "The Nephites caught the bad guy?"  I told him no he was caught in the city of Nephi.  To which he went running away shouting, "Nephi caught the bad guys!"  A little confused but it made the sad day have a little humor.

While sitting at the table eating Landon was being extremely crazy.  I often ask the boys when they are really silly, "Where did you come from?" and the response is usually, "From heaven."  Answered with the attitude of that is a really dumb questions, we all know the answer.  But today it was answered by Jaron for Landon with, "From heaven. But probably the crazy side."  Really made me laugh.

Landon is 2

Landon Wenzel Hughes is 2!  For the first time I do not have a baby when one of my children turned 2.  The reason I say this I think it has played a key role in him having a terrible case of the terrible two’s.  Our baby who is very much not a baby is still treated like a baby in many ways.  He must have his way!  If he doesn’t get his way then there is some major temper tantrums ahead.  He is very fond of hitting, biting, and the latest . . . . pulling hair. Poor Eldon often takes the blunt of the abuse. With his childish flaws stated there is still much to be said for his cuteness and strengths.
Landon is very friendly usually.  He loves his Dad and uncles the most.  He loves to veg. on the couch with his Dad or Uncle Tyson and Aunt Karlee.
Landon likes to do puzzles, dance, and sing.  He often combines dancing and singing.  I love to hear him try to sing.  His favorite songs are “I Am a Child of God,” “Twinkly, Twinkly Little Star,”  “The Itsy Bitsy Spider,” and “We Are a Happy Family.”
Landon is very skilled in climbing.  He uses his little mind to figure out how to get to what he wants then starts scooting chairs, boxes, and anything else he needs to reach his goal. Landon has successfully climbed over the side of his crib, but then doesn’t know what to do so he climbs back in. A big boy bed might be in the close future for him.
Landon loves sugar.  He will take candy over almost anything.  He doesn’t like meat and uncooked vegetables. He does eat both of those sometimes and likes cucumbers. He loves dairy but because he has a dairy intolerance we have to limit how much dairy he can have.  He loves most pasta dishes and doesn’t mind a little spice or sour flavor.  He will drink soda, but doesn’t like it too much.  The carbonation is too much for him. Favorite foods would include: Grapes, dried cherries, raisins, candy, pasta, cheese, and milk.
Landon likes sports.  He likes to watch, which is always accompanied by loud cheering, or play them.  He is very good at sports for his age.  He can catch, throw, and kick a ball fairly well.  This is good because he has a lot of energy that he needs to run off.  He very rarely walks anywhere.  He runs most of the time. Because of his activity level he doesn’t usually sit and watch anything for more than 30 min.
Landon likes animals a lot.  When he sees one he gets very excited and makes sure that we see them too.
Landon weighs 28 pounds and is 2’11” inches tall, which puts in him the 70% for weight and 60% for height. In addition to his dairy intolerance Landon also has eczema.  His speech is just were it should be. All in all he is a healthy guy.
Landon is such a cute little thing and we all love him to pieces.  We can’t imagine our family without this little guy to keep us on our toes and give us kisses.

Oh the Places You'll Sit

No pictured above is him sitting in the dog bed.  That one I never got a good picture.  Landon is so into climbing and sitting in odd places. Climbing on the bunk bed, climbing on the table/chairs, climbing on the couch.  He just wants up or in something!  Kind of scary, but he is my first SERIOUS climber.

Bryson has been referring to a cut on his knee as a "vanilla"  this is in comparison to a "raspberry."  We often call a little scrape just a raspberry and tell them not to worry about it.  I tried to correct him by saying, "Don't you mean a raspberry?" To which he replied, "No mom. This one is white, so it isn't a raspberry it is a vanilla."

Also on the 4th Landon decided to take several steps.  He took his first steps about two weeks ago and Saturday he made his big move by taking several steps.

Landon 11 Months

I couldn't for the life of me get a good photo of him.  That would require him to hold still, which he doesn't do.  He is on the move unless he is asleep or eating.
Landon is very particular about what he wants.  If he doesn't get it he get very mad and kind of  makes this crying scream sound.
He has one more tooth on the bottom that has cut through and is working on several others I think.
He pulls himself up to everything and has even let go and stood for a second.  He is very unsure about the walking thing though and just tries to sit back down when we hold his hand and try to walk with him.
He still has all is same tricks from last month, claping, saying "dada" and "ba", still not "mama".
When he is doing eating he throws his tray.
He found his pee-pee this month and things that poking it is really funny.
He has his different smiles.  The real smile.  Then there is the smile he gives when he thinks he is so cute.  And last we have the smile that is mischievous like when he finds you or gets what he wants.  Kind of funny I think.
Well next month he will be one!

Landon is 10 months old

Isn't this the cutest face?  Our little man has become known as "scooter" because he army crawls all around the house.  Just a few days before he was 10 months he actually crawled, but at 10 months he is still more of a scooter than a crawler.  He has started pulling himself up sometimes. He has fallen a few times so I think he is a little scared.  But he has kept trying and is getting better.
~Landon loves to eat, still yells if I am not feeding him fast enough.  We are working on the signs for things.
~He loves to rip paper.  The magazines have become his favorite thing.
~He has discovered the DVD player.  Child lock has come in handy.
~He insists on getting under. Under the chair, under his blanket, under the table.  When he can't he gets mad.
~Oddly, Knick does not like Landon.  He has snapped at Landon a few times.  So we have to watch that.
~Anything he finds, goes in his mouth.  I try to keep things extra clean because of this.
~When he nurses he has to put a finger in a hole of some kind.  So my mouth, nose, or ear.  Or his nose or ear.  Kind of makes things fun.
~He likes to make noises with his mouth. Clicking his tongue, spitting, or yelling are his favorites.
~He is a baby.  I know they are suppose to be babies, but he has extra baby.  If he sits down too hard, bonks his head a little, or someone possibly tell him "no"  it appears to have the same outcome as drawing blood. He gets very upset about things.
~He is the first of the boys that has not been on a by the minute schedule.  I think this is because he has a mom who looses track of time a lot so just goes off cues.  The upside to this?  He eats every 4-5 hours.  All the rest of them eat every 3 hours until the were weaned.
~Still not sleeping through the night, but that is because I just don't have the heart to make him.
~Landon is a jumper.  He loves to bounce in his saucer or bouncer.

That is all for this month. I think he had 6 teeth at 9 months too, but just in case he didn't he has 6 teeth.
Each kid is so different and fun.  We love being parents and taking care of our little men.

Landon 9 months old

Landon was 9 months on April 6th. He weighs 21 lb. and 11 oz, 70%. He is 30" long, 96%.
Our little guy:
~is eating new foods every day
~has 6 teeth
~army crawls all over the place. His most favorite spot is all the cords by the computer. We have had to baby proof that.
~is a JUMPER. He loves the bouncer.
~is starting to try and pull himself up to things.
~likes to stick out his tongue and spit.
~thinks he father is HILARIOUS. He also does sympathy laughs. If everyone else is laughing he does too.
~says "mama"
~if he gets shy/excited he attacks moms shoulder and tries to bit it.
~is still not sleeping through the night : (
~likes to listen to people sing. It always calms him down.

Landon 8 months

Landon is learning lots of new tricks.
He can get food from his tray to his mouth.
He can roll all over and scoot.
This month he got 2 teeth!
He yells at mom when she doesn't shovel in the food fast enough.
He laughs a lot and likes to shake his head no. He thinks it is a game.
It has been lots of fun at bath time since he can sit up really well now. Splashing is so much fun for him. He doesn't care how much water gets in his face. If by chance he tips over and his face goes in, no big deal. He loves the water. I am eager to see if he likes the pool too, since it is cold.
We went to the doctor today because we just can't seem to keep our little man healthy. But he weighed almost 22 lbs.
He is growing, growing, growing, and eating, eating, eating to keep up with it.

Landon 6 & 7 months

6 months

7months

Landon has been doing a lot of fun new things. When we first introduced him to solids, he wouldn't have anything to do with it. He game me this face of discust, would shutter as he tried to swallow and then gag and usually spit it up. It was very thin and it was also a small amount, but it was as if he was chocking when we tried to feed him. Since then he has taken to eating and yells at me if I am not fast enough in shoveling the food in.

Now I ask you is this the face or what? He really hated solids at first.

At Christmas Aunt Stacie taught him to roll over and has been doing it since. He has recently stopped rolling from his stomach to back. Not sure why he wont roll.
Still no teeth, though I think we are getting close.
I put a picture of his sleeping position. You have to do it just right. Smurf behind him, giraffe in arms, and covered with a blanket tucked around him. If you don't he doesn't fall asleep as fast.

During the past few months he has discovered his tongue. He just had it out like that is how he was suppose to hold it. He has stopped doing it as much now and taken more to yelling as loud as he can or grunting. People think he is trying to poop; not the case it is just his favorite noise.

Landon has had a really rough winter. He got some really bad wheezing and has been on breathing treatments twice so far. The doctor thinks he has something wrong with his bronchial tubes since it keeps coming back. He has had and ear infection twice. Not sure if the first was really gone or not. The second one was in both ears and had some really bad drainage. Hoping his hearing is still okay after that one. I am sad to report the weezing is back for the third time. After the second case the pediatrician just ordered us our own nebulizer so we can give him treatments as needed. Looks like it is time to break it out again.

He is a really happy boy, but doesn't like it when no one is paying attention to him. If he knows I am in the room I have to be talking to him or holding him. But he is so dang cute it is hard to not talk to him or hold him anyway. When I need to get things done I just put him where he can't see me and he is just fine to play.
ALL his brothers love him and love to help out with him. The like to hold him, play with him, and get me the things I need to take care of him. It is nice to have so many little helpers in the house.

Landon is 5 months

Our little man still isn't rolling, but he is really happy trying hard to grab things and talking. He likes to be held and get really squirmy when he is tired. He still doesn't cry when he needs to eat, except in the night, all he does is kind of give out these loud blasts of yells. He goes 3 to 4 hours between eating now. He is kind of curious in the world around him so has a hard time staying focused when he eats. We went in to the doctor just before he was 5 months because we missed his 4 month appointment while in Utah. He was 17lb. 10 oz. and 26 inches. This puts him in the 80% . I keep getting the question how he compares to the others. At 4 months Eldon was over 19lb. Bryson was 18lb. and Jaron was close to 17lb. So he is a little bigger than Jaron and a little smaller than Bryson. Same on the height.
I included a picture of his birth mark. I think it looks like a butterfly. Also sorry it isn't the same black background, the bed was covered in decorations and toys.

Landon Month 3 & 4

As I got on today to write about 4 months I realized I hadn't even done 3 months!! Yikes, how time flies.
3 months

Landon's 3rd month of life obviously didn't have a lot of things going on. He is such a happy baby, sleeping well through the night and smiling a lot.
4 months
At 3 months he really started doing lots of new things.
He could grab his rattle and then would just stare at it in amazement when he grabbed a hold of it.
He is laughing now. Daddy is the funniest out of everyone and can get some good belly laughs.
He has rolled over a few times, but not on purpose at all yet.
His hand is his new toy, he sucks/chews on it all day. He has been a little fussy and I am wondering if the teething process is starting to begin. I don't see any coming down or swollen gums, but he sure is acting like a teething baby.

I just love this little kid. He is motivated, yet very easy going. He really is a blessing especially when I hold him close. I can feel heaven through him and that is something we all need.

Landon is 2 Months

The second month of life Landon started getting into a routine a little bit more. Eating every three hours, unless he is growing then every two. He is sleep much better through the night which we love around here. He fights falling asleep and so we have to hold him a lot while he falls asleep. Not a great habit to form, but he just won't do it on his own.
At 6 weeks he started smiling a lot! This is one of my most favorite times. Those smiles just make you melt.
Brothers are loving interacting with him now that he is awake a little more to talk to.

I just cherish these first few months when they are so little and cuddly.

Landon's Blessing

Not sure what this face is. It kind of looks like his poop face a little.

I have how many brothers!?

We were very grateful to have family here for Landon's blessing. We are also very thankful for great friends that stood in the circle. Don blessed Landon and Grandpa Gray, Tae Parker, Helaman Noyes, Bishop Scott Mackey, and Jeremiah Alexander stood in the circle (bishop is not in the picture).
Don gave a wonderful blessing and we are so blessed to have the priesthood in our home.

Landon is 1 Month

a

Landon's first month of life was fairly uneventful. He did a lot of sleeping, eating, and that other thing. He is such a joy to have around. At one month he wasn't sleeping too great yet. Still had his days and nights mixed up a little. He woke up at around 2am and stayed awake for several hours. By his second month he was doing much better and not staying awake at night so much.
He is a great eater, but spits up a lot more than any of the other boys.

We love our little guy!
